Work by Christine Bell, Fionnuala Ní Aoláin, and Catherine O’Rourke informs new work on gender sensitive constitution-making by Euromed Feminist Initiative (IFE-EFI).

Gender is a key theme of the Political Settlements Research Programme. Its six projects are co-ordinated by Fionnuala Ní Aoláin, and Catherine O’Rourke at the Transitional Justice Institute.

IFE-EFI advocates for gender equality and women’s universal human rights as inseparable from democracy building and citizenship, for political solutions to all conflicts, and for the right of peoples to self-determination. ‘ABC for a Gender Sensitive Constitution: Handbook for Engendering Constitution Making’ is authored by Silvia Suteu and Ibrahim Draj with financial support from the European Union and Sweden. Silvia Suteu has recently completed her PhD at Edinburgh Law School, graduating in June 2016. Click here to read more about her research via the ELS website.
