On September 30th, PSRP team member Monica McWilliams, of Transitional Justice Institute, spoke at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, as part of a symposium on women’s political participation in peace processes.
The symposium, which coincided with the release of the institute’s new research report ‘Women Leading Peace: A close examination of women’s political participation in peace processes in Northern Ireland, Guatemala, Kenya, and the Phillipines’, included keynote remarks from The President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga and former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Other members of the panel were: Njeri Kabeberi, executive director of the Center for Multi-Party Democracy in Kenya; Claudia Paz y Paz, former Attorney General of Guatemala; and Miriam Coronel Ferrer, chair of the Government of the Philippines Peace Panel.
