PSRP Researcher Speaking: 1916 and its Legacy

PSRP Director Christine Bell is speaking as part of the Screening Irish History festival ‘1916 and its Legacy’ at the Filmhouse in Edinburgh. Christine will comment at a screening of the film ’71, on April 13th 2016 at 17:45. The screening is open to all but tickets must be purchased, either in advance or from the Filmhouse box office.

A gritty, relentless drama set in 1970s Belfast, written by Scottish playwright Gregory Burke (Black Watch).
New army recruit Private Gary Hook (Jack O’Connell) is deployed to Belfast during the Troubles in 1971. Shortly after arriving his unit are supporting a routine house search operation which escalates into a terrifying street riot, and during the chaos Hook is accidentally left behind. Unable to tell friend from foe, the raw recruit must survive the night alone and find his way to safety through a disorientating, alien and deadly landscape.
