The swisspeace Statehood Program is pleased to invite you to an online Sudan Roundtable, which will take place on Thursday, 7 December 2020, from 15.30 to 17.00 CET, via Zoom (see link below).

The roundtable brings together Swiss government and NGO representatives working in Sudan and interested in the current situation in the country. Based on inputs from renowned experts, participants will discuss the state of play in Sudan after the coup of 25 October and the agreement of 21 November, including prospects of the political transition, the calculations of the main military and political actors, the role of civic actors and the protest movement, as well as regional and international dynamics. The aim of the Roundtable is for participants to better understand the current situation, different scenarios for future developments, and possibilities (and limitations) of international assistance.

The online Sudan Roundtable will feature expert presentations by Ms. Kholod Khair (tbc), managing partner of the Khartoum-based think tank Insight Strategy Partners, and Dr. Jan Pospisil, research director of the Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution ASPR, followed by Q&A and discussion. The roundtable will be moderated by Dr. David Lanz, co-head of the Mediation Program at swisspeace.

We kindly ask you to register for the roundtable via e-mail to Julia Wartmann: julia.wartmann@swisspeace.ch.
